Me in 5 Years Time

Tooday we looked at Falmouth University website and looked at the courses we could study if we went to university. I choose Journalism as i have always been interested in the subject and would be and exciting job and i would love the fact that if i was sucessful in journalism that i could interview celebrities. I know the journalism will be difficult but i like a challenge as i always will want to accomplish it. I love the fact that i would have to go to different plcaes for different stories so i wil also get to travel. We had to see what PLTS it would match up to and I think that journalism matches up with all of them:
  • Self Manager
  • Effective Participator
  • Team Worker
  • Reflective Learner
  • Independent Inquirer
  • Creative Thinker

This is what Falmouth University said about the course.

In 5 years time i see myself as a sucessful journalist and enjoying my work. I dobut i wil still be in cornwall though i have always wanted to do journilsm in a city like London as there will be more stories and theres lots going on in London, also it will be better money then down in cornwall working.

Tour of The New Build

Kevin Buzza took us on a tour around the new build to see what we are promoting. To go into the new buildings we had to wear health and safety equipment like hard hat, yellow coat, gloves and we had to put socks over our shoes. Every room has a huge window to show the view that we have got from the new building which is really nice. I expected the room that is going to be ours to be a bit bigger but other than that its looks good. The building is really modern and it obviously is going to look so much better when all the equipment is in there instead of empty rooms. I think when we promote the building we should show off the views we get from all the rooms because that will sell the building.

Promotional Video Idea

The inspiration of our video came from the Nike advert (video below)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anwlpTgbQTE
You can see in this video that it is all in the P.O.V of a football player going from the ordinary game to being in a famous team. At the start of the video you see a man helping

Ideas for Tregwainton Gardens

The group come up with the idea of having an easter egg hunt for the kids and parents to do. Our plan is to have 4 pictures of eggs but there different colours but in different sections of the garden, for example in the first section everyone will have to find a picture of a green egg and then when they found the picture and move on to the next section of the garden and will have to find a picture of another egg but this time it will be a different colour. Once they have found all the eggs then they win the prize. We were also thinking of putting 1 gold egg in each section and the person that finds one will get another prize, but they can only have one gold egg. Also having face painting and maybe even some competitions for the kids to participate in. We will be going to the garden earlier in the day so we can see where we can put the pictures obviously not putting them in places where people are going to be damaging the plants, and tying them up with a piece of string so once again we are not damaging any of there plants they have in Tregwainton Gardens.
Tregwainton gardens are having a wet nose day which is a day where people can bring there dogs into the garden. We thought we would keep the idea of a hunt but this time they obviously win dog treats and toys for there dogs. We thought these ideas would be good as everyone has to work together and plus they can see the plants in the garden as they are walking around the area.

Proposal

These are mine and Jack Reynolds three ideas that we have came up with. The first idea we had was a video to promote the new building and the courses we have at Penwith College. We have found a video that we want our promotional video to be like this video is the Nike advert. We liked this video because it was different to other adverts it is all in there P.O.V and we thought we could do that as well. We thought that we could have the student on there first day at college going through the college looking up at the doors which will show the courses and then they will walk through two big doors to graduation. The message we want to give off is that when you come to Penwith college you will get the grades you need to get into university. We also want to show the views we have got from the new build.
The second idea we had is to have a 4 page spread magazine which will promote the new building having pictures of it and why its different to all the other colleges. It will also include the courses in there.
The final idea we had was posters, we wanted them to be different to all the other posters though as we want our college to stand out the most. We have to target it to the audiences 16-18 and 19+ (mature) we were going to put pictures of the new building in and out of it.

Trengwainton Gardens

Today the Media and some of the other group is going to go to Trengwainton Gardens. This belongs to national trust heritage. We are going to look at the project Wet Nose day which is when you are allowed to take your dogs into the garden. We are going to think of ways to advertise the day this could help us with some of our work experience as we could spend some of the days for it at Trengwainton Gardens as it will be and experience to us as most of us have never done anything like iot before.
